Job Description

LC State invites applications for the position of Instructional Designer.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $50,000

Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited college or university

Required Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience using a learning management system (LMS) or other learning technology program
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with online instruction.
  • Experience with Canvas (by Instructure) or other Learning Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of LC State campus procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of the ADA, ADAAA, and Sections 503 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cultivate collaborative and professional working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators in assigned academic units
  2. Develop and maintain asynchronous training courses on the use of the LMS and creating accessible online course materials
  3. Provide one-on-one assistance for faculty in the use of the LMS and related technologies
  4. Conduct workshops and training for faculty and staff on innovative strategies and technologies to solve instructional problems in the online environment
  5. Perform internal Quality Matters course reviews for course development cohorts and by division chair request
  6. Coordinate with the Accessibility Services office to provide training and guidance to faculty for creating accessible online course materials (accessible documents, PowerPoint's, and closed-captioned videos)
  7. Assist Testing Center staff with technical issues and student accommodation settings
  8. Serve on college-wide committees and/or task forces as needed
  9. Serve as lead Instructional Designer for faculty in all Liberal Arts & Sciences divisions/departments
  10. Represent eLearning Services on the Library Advisory Committee
  11. Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
